Iron Metallurgy

Humans found that by burning coal instead of wood, their smelters could achieve much higher temperatures, which are required for melting iron and removing most impurities. As blacksmiths' techniques developed, iron tools gradually replaced their bronze counterparts.
Iron and coal ore become available and can be found in nearby deposits. Crafting iron tools, weapons and armor requires iron ingots, which can be obtained at a smelter.

Master Craftsmen

Professionals continue to specialize, resulting in the emergence of exceptionally gifted individuals. Many craftsmen are able to advance their fields of study and improve their skills through education and training.
Unique individuals such as master blacksmiths, tavern keepers, stonemasons and woodworkers appear in thriving cities to make a better living.

Humans drilled holes in massive boulders with bronze and iron instruments. Over the course of a few days, these were hammered and wedged to form wider cracks. They were also able to reshape the stone in a complicated and precise manner because of developments in stone polishing.
Stonecutters can provide the necessary materials for building paved roads, reinforced stone towers and larger temples and churches.

Water mills were among the first wide-spread heavy machineries. A water wheel or water turbine is used to power a mechanical process such as milling, rolling, or hammering. Such processes are needed in the manufacture of many material goods, including flour, lumber, paper, textiles, and many metal products.
With the correct preparations, water mills can automate activities like papermaking, stone polishing, textile manufacture, and grain grinding.

Citizens Stats

Because of oppressive rule, many empires began to crumble. People's needs and fulfillments, as well as education and training became the focus of the state's investments.
Citizens gain individual skill proficiencies, happiness and education levels, which can influence their well being.

As Iron Age civilizations developed, large-scale warfare became the norm. War generals began to enlist the services of professional soldiers who could fight in long and tough campaigns and perfect their combat skills.
Large armies clash in a battle for supremacy. Any settlement's economic and military administration is critical to its survival.
